Use this as a warmup for any activity. This activity is great practice for children that are working on listening skills and following instructions.
Play any song. They must run around until you pause the song. When the song pauses they must stop and do 5 squats. Continue until the song is over. Try and find a song they like so they are motivated to get the song playing again.
(Ex. A great one for younger kids is, “I Like to Move It” from Madagascar.)
There are lots of variations. You can have them bunny hop around, bear crawl, run backwards, side shuffle, row etc. You can also have them preform any exercise they are familiar with when the music pauses.
